About Us
Specialist Support Solutions C.I.C. (SSS) is a not for profit Community Interest Company (C.I.C.) dedicated to improving mental health outcomes for members of the community who have experienced traumatic life events.
Such important work requires dedication from experienced individuals who can contribute a wealth of knowledge and experience as part of a team approach to serving local needs.
SSS Directors are not famous names or local dignitaries (yet)! Directors are involved because they have operational and strategic experience along with expert knowledge of being at the front end of delivery. Most importantly they are involved because they care and want to improve outcomes for people.
Our directors
There a 5 people currently on the SSS C.I.C. Board of Directors. Directors’ combined experience totals in excess of 100 years dedicated to supporting the community, mental health improvement, team management and professional development.
The sectors in which they have worked span across the charitable sector, private industry, criminal justice, social care and the NHS.
About Sue
I studied Counselling back in 1995 and worked in South West Durham as a Trauma Associate from then until 2003. During this time, I worked with people across a wide range of experiences and presentations, from victims of armed robbery to historic abuse and survivors of fatal road accidents to harassment and stalking and pretty much everything in between.
2003 - 2019
From 2003 to 2019 I worked in Teesside specialising in Domestic and Sexual Abuse, leading and training teams delivering front line services and educating public sector workers to help them understand their service users needs.
Award
For over 11 years I managed Teesside Sexual Assault Referral Centre providing a 24/7 crisis service to victims of rape and sexual assault. In 2017 I won a special award for ‘Outstanding Commitment to Victims’ and also in 2017 I updated my Counselling Qualification and was awarded the CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.
